enter Selfie, something that the younger generation invented in their self-centered youth. Yes, many people find it that way. They associate selfie with teenage girls documenting themselves at an event rather than enjoying it. Though I am a person who love taking selfies. The frequency of clicking special moments increased especially after my son was born.
http://scottandfrancesca.com/2015/06/ I was born in mid 80’s when camera used to be a wealthy affair. They used to be film based, which was expensive. My dad never allowed me to touch the camera. It was a precious thing to him. Only the selected special moments were captured. And the worst part was , you can’t even make out if the picture would have been a perfect one or not, until you have the printed copies in your hand. And of course trying to get kids to pose nicely for pictures could fill a reel in no time.
I do have many pictures with my family members but then there are no pictures of those special yet forgettable moments. Those moments which just popped in naturally like when I was snuggling peacefully with my mom after hours of crying or when I made faces while I ate something that I did not like. Also there is no picture when I was a day old.
But now in this era where you have some great smart phones, aptly made for taking selfies, like Mobiistar whose front, dual selfie camera can capture a 120° wide-angle shot, how can I miss to grab those special moments. I love the fact that I can take the pictures myself. I don’t have to rely on someone else to click a picture for me.
I am glad that I am able to capture such moments which may seem like nothing to others but means the world to me. I want my champ to have lots of photos to look back on when he gets older. I want him to be able to see me with him at different stages of his life. They are small beautiful yet important memories.
Here I share with you three of my most favorite selfies that I have with my son.
It was my first mother’s day. My son was 5 months old and Mr. Husband was on a business trip. There was no one to click us. In those days, I couldn’t even tell you when I last showered or had even combed my hair. There’s no way I would have ever recalled such beautiful memories of early motherhood without my phone on Selfie camera mode right by my side.
The second one…This one is truly special. It came out just like a poster picture to me. I took this while I was tickling my son and his hearty laugh gave me such a pleasant smile. There wasn’t much light in the room but the selfie camera did its job perfectly.
The third one just leaves me in an awe, every time I see this. We went to visit a zoo and were all tired, when I asked my son ‘Let’s take a selfie’. He said ‘Ok Mumma’ and gave me a tight hug with such a precious smile. That prompt hug in this click captures the blessings that motherhood bestowed upon me.
Precious Selfie experiences !! Isn’t it? And the best part about each one of them is ..they are so natural.
