I am a teacher. I can create a good learning environment for your child. I can teach your child logic behind things. I can teach your child the required curriculum. I can encourage your child’s creativity and support him through the learning. I can work upon the academic weakness of your child. I can create a classroom from where your child leaves with the required knowledge and get prepared for the educational road ahead. But please, do not think I can manage this alone.
School, education system, teacher are not to be blamed always.
I cannot perform my tasks effectively, if you do not give any priority to education at home. I can’t guarantee that a child will learn thing perfectly, while dozing in the class because the previous night he had to attend a late night party with parents. I can’t make sure that the child comes to class regularly and misses the school only when necessary.
I can’t provide your child an English speaking environment at home (so do not expect that teachers can make your child talk like a British). I can’t limit the TV time or surfing time for your child. I cannot force you to have a talk with me to discuss about how together we can turn situations better for your child.
Please understand that a teacher has no magic wand. I am fighting a battle to educate your child. Without your co-operation, I am sure to lose this battle. Parental involvement is sure to give a positive effect on the educational outcomes of children. You need to prioritize your roles and responsibilities in the education of your child. You need to help us, the teachers, in providing a quality education to your child.
Let’s make our chemistry strong to create some magical formulas so that this educational road is smooth enough for the child to travel.
An honest teacher.
